Service Projects
We partner with nonprofits, schools, and social service agencies to identify needs in the community that we can serve.
In addition to responding to asistance requests from these organizations, we also seek to be proactive in empowering the under-resourced to be self-sustaining, stable, and flourishing. If you would like to put your compassion into action, we are looking for creative and innovative people to work with us to create ladders of opportunity for those who want to move beyond a life of constant struggle.
Recruit Churches to Adopt-A-School and REACH Mentoring
We help McKinney ISD to recruit churches to Adopt-A-School and provide volunteers for the REACH Mentoring program. While many schools have been "adopted," there are still some who are needing church partners.
In particular, we seek churches who are willing to team up in order to adopt a middle or high school. Since middle and high schools are so large, it will take a team of churches to adopt each school. There are countless ways that churches can be "salt and light" at these schools. If you are interested in hearing more, please contact us.
C.L.I.M.B. After-School Enrichment Program
In response to community requests for support for children living in low-income/subsidized housing, we are developing an after-school program to provide opportunities for enrichment activities. For those children who don't have transportation or funds to participate in extra-curricular activities at school or other locations, we are gathering a team of volunteers to be able to offer activities on-site at Merritt McGowan Manor apartments.
The program, called CLIMB, will be open to school-aged children who live at or around Merritt. The purpose is to reinforce academic skills and encourage exploration of new interests.

CLIMB Program seeks to provide a safe, nurturing environment to stimulate school-aged children’s intellectual and creative development.
To introduce ourselves to the Merritt families, we will have a couple of fun social Saturday events in Spring 2023 and several week-long activities in Summer 2023.
In Fall 2023, we will start the pilot program of after-school activities offered every week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 3:30 - 5:30 pm.
The first hour of each session will focus on academic support, such as homework help and/or tutoring or otherwise academically related activities. The second hour will offer engaging activities to introduce a variety of areas of interest, ranging from STEM, arts and crafts, to physical exercise/wellness.
We seek to partner with youth-serving organizations to host sessions or activities on particular topics. The objective is to introduce the children to people and resources from their community who can bring experiences, perspectives, and information to broaden their world.
None of this will be attainable unless we have enough people from the community who are willing to volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us for more information. There are many ways that you can be involved in impacting a child's life.
Please note that background checks will be required of all volunteers.
Over 1,000 people joined us in person and many more participated via our live stream for "Thy Kingdom Come" -- a free worship and praise event held on March 27, 2021 at McKinney ISD stadium and featuring keynote speaker, Dr. Tony Evans.

Support for McKinney ISD Adopt -A-School and REACH mentoring programs
Adopt A School and REACH Mentoring Program
We continue to help McKinney ISD recruit churches to adopt a school and members to volunteer to mentor students.
Mentors meet with their students once a week during the lunch period. The school will give the mentors topics to talk about and specific activities to do with their students. The mentors and their students establish relationships over the course of a school year. Some mentors continue with their students throughout the years.
Volunteer to be a mentor and change a child's life.
